Insurance process was drawn out
While the actual move went well, and all the people at Conroys (from Lee and his movers in Perth, to the delivery guys in NZ) were all very helpful and friendly, unfortuantley we had 6 large items of furniture, our couch, dining table, fridge, washing machine, bookcase and shoe rack (all packed by Conroys) that were damaged in transit which was very frustrating, and the insurance process became a drawn out 2 month headache. We were informed that Conroys looked after the insurance, but we were quickly passed off, first told to deal with Cowden, then contacted by Cunningham and Lindsay, and told that we would get an answer from Zurich..!! There was a lot of back and forth, and there were typos from Zurich that delayed payment weeks. It is finally settled now, but it would have been nice if Cornoys actually handled the insurance process like I was lead to believe would happen.

I have made good experiences with Conroy sending my things off, however after 4.5 months of being stuffed around by the English service they use I am disappointed to find I still have not received my shipment despite it being at port sind 3 months.

Shipment time from Melbourne to Perth can be better. It tooks 14 days from Melbourne to Perth (home)
Some Broken Items
Apart from the confusion regarding the container size (20 ft v 40ft) at the start and the damage in the 1st shipment to the tv stand rendering it unusable along with broken picture glass and damage to the shelving in the overflow shipment it appears to have been an ok move. What is the process to follow re claiming on insurance for the damage whilst in transit?

"A number of my items were damaged"
A number of my items were damaged and two were broken. Several boxes were punchered by something.

The only gripe I have is that it took three diferent delivery dates for me to finally get my goods once they arrived in New Zealand. The first day I was told they would be arriving at the agreed address at 10 30am. This address was my brothers place in New Plymouth and I drove for an hour towing a trailer from Hurleyville to get there on time only to wait to 11am and nothing had arrived so I rang the Auckland Branch to fing out what was happening with my goods only to be told that the truck hadn't even left Auckland because they had an issue with their driver. I said a phone call would have been nice and while the gentalmen at the other end of the phone was very apologetic it didn't leave a good tast in my mouth as I had lost half a days pay and used half a tank of gas getting there.
Finally got my goods two days later because the truck was held up the next day as well but the good part was all my gear was there and nothing was missing and only one box was dammaged and the contents were starting to come out the hole where the box had split open.
All said and done aside from a bit of a comunication issue with the Auckland depot and the truck not arriving when it was suposed to I would still use Conroy Removals again.I do realise that things don't always go to plan but that's when communication with the client is essential so they understand whats going on. Its not a good look when the client has to ring them to find out wahts going on.
Broken Storage Containers
Every storage container that was just bubble wrapped was broken. Every container that was placed in a cardboard box was in perfect condition. About 24 storage containers were totally destroyed. They told me the incorrect name of the ship and the company handling it on the Canadian end were not very pleasant to deal with.
"did their homework"
Conroys did their homework and my gear is being delivered door to door. Much happier. Thank you to Linda

"little more comprehensive advice required"
Think a little more comprehensive advice required paperwork would be helpful....in my case from U.K. Based company....still not received shipment.
The actual subcontractors delivering from Brisbane - Cairns North=South Removals - were excellent - very obliging and efficient. However communications from Conroy's office was slow - replies to emails taking too long, information about quarantine matters piecemeal and minimal, and updates arriving after the event.
