While the process was quick and effecient it was more trying to get out in and out as quick as they could vs trying to really help on making the unpacking and move a better and more helpful experience.
- Linens and beddings in 2x cartons were damaged from water.
- Broken ornaments in 1x carton.
- Black marks alll over the corners and ends of the King size mattress.
- During delivery one of the removalist smashed and damaged censor lights by the front door.
- The truck driver rushed the unloading as he wanted to get home

"Overall the service is good"
Overall service was satisfactory, although there are a few things of our plates were found broken and we experienced of missing clothes airer/hanger, but then we understand this may happen during packing stage before departure.
However, I think it would be more helpful if the staff can help to unpack and take away the boxes, or if the place is small, at least they can come back in a couple of hours to help remove the boxes away, just a feedback, otherwise in overall the service is good.
"Lack of communication"
I previously used Conroy to move my items from Auckland to Wellington with a great overall experience. I decided to use Conroy again when I moved from form Wellington to Sydney. It wasnt as an enjoyable experience.
The problem was the lack of communication throughout the process. With a specified delivery time of betwee 5 and 8 weeks the delivery turned up after 10 and a half weeks. About a three weeks after pick up (12/3) we were told the items were due to land on the 25/3, and was subsequently notified on the 31/3 that they were then arriving on the 5/4. From there it took until the 11th for it to arrive, following a series of emails with your Australian team asking for an update.
With logistics I realise that things cant always be on time, but that needs to be clearly communicated. It was 25% over your conservative delivery estimate of 8 weeks. I could have saved a whole lot of grief and questions from my girlfriend on the shipping had things been clearly communicated. As an alternative, an online tracking tool allowing customers to track their delivery process would have saved both me and yourself time.
Considering how awesome the domestic delivery team in NZ is, it was a bit disappointing that my transtasman experience was so different. I would recommend you locally within NZ, but probably wouldnt internationally
"Furniture was treated very roughly"
The staff employed by conroys are exceptionally nice. I do feel however that our furniture was treated very roughly. We only own four really nice pieces of bedroom furniture and two of them have been damaged in really noticeable places, not just surface dents but deep abrasions. One coffee table was dropped off the ramp and is now unuseable, the other has a 5mm wide chip in its top. Our desk drawer is in pieces and probably can't be fixed so who knows what happened to that. My mother is about to move with expensive furniture and I feel I couldn't trust Conroys to move it without damage.
We were kept well informed of proceedings with shipping, customs, MPI etc though I wonder why we were charged $125 for a hoist to move our container so a can of fly spray could be used on spiders in the car. Surely there is no contamination risk from fly spray! And MPI to spray- $297? They left the fly spray can in the car, there's something not right about that at all. I could've sprayed it for them for free.
"Motorcycle wasn't crated as promised"
My motorcycle wasn't crated as was promised, and was impossible to get out of the container when it was on the truck, so there was a huge delay while the container was returned to the depot to be lowered to the ground to get the bike out. We didn't then have the time to unpack as much as we would have liked at this end. A number of items of furniture where broken in transit, as well as some smaller items that we only realised after signing off receipt of the goods. We found a box that was half full of packing rubbish (e.g. The cardball inner rolls from the packing tape, and a drinks can from your packers).
Sales, pre sales and shipping were all fine we were disappointed in the packing
Whilst the sales, pre sales and shipping aspect of Conroy's service were all fine we were disappointed in the packing. The packing in Australia was not finished on day 1 as the packers left at 3pm - and there were not enough of them. On unpack in the UK we've discovered mis labelled boxes, random contents placed together - eg wooden shelves with suits etc. - throughout the load. As a company Conroy has been responsive and friendly to deal with, but the poor quality of packing was a real disappointment to us and would mean that we wouldn't use Conroy in the future or recommend them, unfortunately.
Communication wasn't proactive from the company. We had to reach out repeatedly to find out the status of our boxes. Our e-mails were always responded to promptly, which was wonderful. We just wish that we had a clearer idea what was happening along the way and that we were informed without having to ask.
Also, we mysteriously have items in our boxes that are not our belongings and someone is missing these personal items. Because these items that are not ours took up considerable space, we have reason to believe that some of our items are in someone else's boxes. (We can't identify anything missing right now, but because our boxes were packed so tightly by us- there would have been no room for additional items.) We aren't sure what to do with these items that are not ours- have emailed our rep and don't have a clear response back. Is there a "lost and found?" Also, the boxes that contained these things were not identified as the boxes that were opened by inspections, so not sure how they got in there... Except by dishonest people as they sat in transit.
I have provided feedback to the NZ office. There were 2 issues, one was not the fault of Conroys as it was the hired labourer who helped pack that totally missed a cupboard, leaving our pots and pans behind ( after asking where the pots were and having it pointed it out to them). Once our goods arrived in NZ we had no communication from the agent we were told was handling this end. After a couple of phone calls I finally got told that they were not the agents. then it was back to the Auckland contact who put me on to the Christchurch office. The attitude was disappointing and we eventually received our goods this week. While the experience and the attitude from the Australian office and staff was tops, the lack of communication from the Christchurch did mar the experience.
