"Why I have said I would not use them again"
Its tough settling into a new country and emotions can be all over the place and even about your possessions,
Why I have said I would not use them again? Well firstly we gave them our address for delivery of the goods some 40 kilometers and an easy drive from their premises at Dandenong I know how far it is exactly as I went to pick my caravan up there. Now the deal was with our UK company delivery within 50k of the port of Melbourne Our address was depending on which system you used 70km from the port so I was expecting a small surcharge even though I was close to the depot. What I got was a bill for 360 dollars for the extra 20km that’s 18 dollars a km Wow What’s more If I had say moved around the other side of the port as they are on the East I would have still been in the 50 k paid for delivery zone and they would have had a 80 to 90 km drive from their base back past the port to any address on the west side, also hitting city rush hour traffic and tolls. To deliver to my address was no tolls and no traffic as its all heading the other way. Anyway we managed to negotiate this down to 200 dollars Still a hefty price for making their life easier.. Now We did get about 10 to 14 days storage out of them but again I was trying to make their life easier as a truck would not have been able to access easily our current gravel road 1 in nearly 3 incline in Mt Martha so hang on two weeks and they can deliver to nice and flat Mornington. Sure that was agreed
The day of the arrival was upon us Our new house we received the keys the previous day, Two guys arrived (we had 6 for 2 days to load) They unloaded and checked off moving things to rooms as required But unlike the removal crew from where we left, No carpet protector, no stair runner, to protect.... nothing.....of course we are just happy to see our things. All unloaded but no box 118... that’s our vacuum cleaner in its own package because of the likelyhood of customs, after a search of the boxes delivered in case it had been missed no 118 box no vacuum The driver thinks it may be with customs and will ring the depot
They asked us what they could do and we suggested unwrapping all the furniture sure enough on with the task I also asked if they could unwrap the Clavinova (digital Piano ) Sure.. Can you assemble it …No we are not allowed Can you help me then as 1 person can’t lift this No we are not allowed … One of them unpacked it whilst I was doing something else… They unpacked it and just left it on its end yes a piano on its side Who could do that It was only later on inspection did I notice as well it’s been damaged not badly but it looks like one of the legs has gone into the back of it. But as I say and prompted by the specialist repair place whose comment was ‘what fool puts a Piano on its side I had to leave it like that as I cannot pick it up to put it flat. We have since had a neighbour give me a hand to put it the right way up. Even Laurel and Hardy in all the Piano sketches they did never put one on its side Its pretty obvious which way up it goes
Now we get a call re the vaccumm can you unpack everything and see if its in something else I follishly agreed but then thought hold on its in its own box how on earth wuld it be in something else but we carried on unpacking and hoping it was about but it was a pretty pointless hope as we woudl have had a box with 118 on the side so no sign
With the emotions of being happy receiving our things we hadn’t seen for 3 to 4 months it was a great day but in the cold light of day afterwards as they still haven’t found the vacuum cleaner and the Piano farce of which I have the comment in my head from the repair specialist ...not really a great day at all. It is the little things that mean a lot and that attention to detail that make things great or going the extra mile maybe (no pun intended)
Its hard to rate them higher than 2 as they had most of the work done for them by the packing crew in UK all they had to do was deliver unwrap and unpack so I would have felt they could go the extra mile in helping. They arrived at about 8am and where gone by 11 ish
I havent ticked I would like a repsonse from them as what can they do just say Sorry. It was me who had to hire a vehicle and take my piano to be repaired. perhaps they could offer to pick it up No second thoughts No not when it was left on its side aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
