"informed each step of the way"
The service was great from the time we dropped our cargo off at the depot to the delivery. We were informed each step of the way. The staff were helpful and friendly.
"Generally happy with the service provided"
Generally happy with the service provided. John Rowden was good with the initial quote, advice and site visit. The packing crew was fast and friendly. There was a bit of a fail on the stated delivery timeframe and related communication during transport. The unpack crew was helpful and efficient, but slightly rough with a few boxes, though no damage was noted.
Main issue was that we were advised transport time to Tauranga was about 6 days from departing Brisbane. Our goods left Brisbane on 18 June, on a ship destined for Tauranga, which arrived on or about the 22nd of June. However our goods did not get offloaded at Tauranga at that time. They continued to Napier, then Lyttleton, then Dunedin, where they were put onto another ship headed back to Napier. Then they were offloaded in Napier on about 5 July, and eventually road freighted to Tauranga by about the 11th of July. I think that ship even went to Tauranga after Napier...
There was no explanation provided as to why the goods travelled that circuitous route, I understand that they were LCL with one or more other consignments, however my understanding is that all the goods in the container would have been offloaded at one port due to customs/MPI requirements. If this is the case I do not understand why the container was not offloaded in Napier from the first ship, rather than doing a tour of the eastern coast of NZ as far as Dunedin, or if I am mistaken about the customs/MPI requirements, why the goods could not have been offloaded at Tauranga, being the containers first port of call in NZ.
Ultimately we got our stuff delivered in acceptable condition (at least the boxes inspected so far) at a reasonable pice so I have no real issue, it was just frustrating not being given any useful information about the bizarre journey and our expectations were not managed well.

Alan

"every possible contingency was foreseen"
Excellent. All our concerns were answered, every possible contingency was foreseen, emails were answered quickly and in a friendly fashion. The person that turned up to give us a quote was very experienced and full of information. The adult and young lad that turned up were very friendly and explained what they would be doing and how long it would take. We were very surpried at the care the took as we thought that we had packed most things adequately. They proceeded to wrap just about every thing in what looked like bomb proof tape and packageing. They refused help in carrying some of the stuff up the steep path from the house and up the drive. They were fast , efficient, took lots of care and even refused a tip. It arrived in Vancouver much faster than we expected. It must have been shipped almost immediately and the qoute was much less than anticipated. The lady that we are dealing with at this the Vancouver end appears totally overwhelmed with too much work and little support. Things were always going to happen and never did and still haven't. E mails went unanswered for too long resulting in phone calls. Stuff has still not cleared customs (after 1 month) . She did realise that it was a long trip to Vancouver for us and suggested that she send us power of attorney forms so that she could see to clearance. We are very grateful for that. But we still haven't got the forms. She is also trying to arrange storage in Cranbrook, again we are very grateful for that as it means easy access for us. Fortunately the delays are a real help to us so we are not too concerned about them and maybe if we had expressed a more urgent need, things would have gone a lot faster.
"super friendly"
The service from Australia was great. There's just a bit of miscommunication with the NZ office team. The delivery guys both Aus and NZ were great and super friendly.
Initially a good service with professional pick-up.
Afterwards though, I was left in the dark. I had to chase up updates and was advised that the shipment hadn't left Sydney after three months, waiting to be consolidated and would be updated. After five months, I had to chase an update and was told that my shipment had left two weeks after pick-up and after six weeks at sea had arrived in Belfast where it sat for three months until I resumed chasing updates.
Once in touch with the company in Belfast I could organise a delivery date.
So an improvement in communication would be recommended.
